I need to transfer my current QODBC licence to a new computer. I will not be running QODBC on the old computer. The new computer is Vista, the old was Windows XP. What is the procedure?
OK - I deactivated the version on my old computer. That went well. However, when I try to activate QODBC on my new computer I get an error stating "Authorized quantity for cd key ####-####-####-#### is exhasted". I deactivated the version on Friday morning and tried activating on Saturday night. What do I need to do?
I received a notice this morning stating that my deactivation was accepted and that I could activate QODBC on my new computer. Using the setup screen I activated the seat. It appear to go OK at that point. However, once I tried to use the seat via the VB Demo program I receive a "Activation Expired" error.
Check the "About" tab of the QODBC Setup Screen for the current status of your license against what revision of QuickBooks you are now using on your new computer. You will also need to go through the How do I connect to QuickBooks for the first time? procedure.
I am running the same versions of QB and QODBC as I was running on my prior computer. So I do not think it is a version issue. I also tried installing the latest version of QODBC hoping that might help. I'm now running 8.00.00.242. I followed the step in the "How do I connect to QuickBooks for the first time?" procedure. However, after I received a Activation successful message I still received a evaluation expired message. Below are the screen shots.
OK I followed the procedure step-by-step. I receive a secussful activation message. Here is a screen shot of the about page immedently after the activation.
Then I start up VB Demo and QB. I tried to create a connection in VB Demo and received a "Evaluation Expired" message.
The about screen is showing that your copy of QODBC is activated. The only reason for still getting a "Evaluation Expired" message would be that you are now using QuickBooks 2008 on your Vista computer. Your CDKey Code is only good up to QuickBooks 2007 for USA and Canadian copies of QuickBooks. If you are using a different version of QuickBooks, or have installed QODBC using the wrong region, then you will get a "Evaluation Expired" error message.
If you're using the QuickBooks Online Edition (QBOE) you will also need a QuickBooks 2008 CDKey Code. A W07Uxxxxx serial number is only good for use with QBOE last year.
I'm still running the same version of QB and QODBC that I was running on the prior computer. The only software change was from Windows XP to WIndows Vista. The SN on the QODBC that I deactivated was W08U10017780. On deactivation the new SN was assigned.
Sorry, but it appears you are now using a different CDKey Code than ####-####-####-0480 which this thread was about. The Serial Number on your screen dump clearly shows it to be W07U10017146. Contact the USA Sales office directly for further asistance.
