The ITEM table is a READ ONLY table that's a combined list of all Item tables in QuickBooks:
- ItemInventory,
- ItemNonInventory,
- ItemOtherCharge,
- ItemInventoryAssembly,
- ItemService,
- ItemFixedAsset,
- ItemGroup;
with minimum common fields.
When creating new items, the insert needs to be made to the ItemInventory, ItemNonInventory, ItemOtherCharge, ItemInventoryAssembly, ItemService, ItemFixedAsset, or ItemGroup table as applicable. It must also be a unquie new ITEM FullName!
