Hello - we are using QBks Enterprise 7.0 R11P and the QODBC driver Desktop Read Write 2007 v 7.00.00.207.

We have processes set up on a user's PC that write to the shared QBks database on another machine, and that query QBks and write to GoldMine.   The ODBC connection to QBks uses the administrator's username and pw.

We are considering moving the processes to another PC that is used for shipping.  There is a separate user on this machine that has fewer privileges in Quickbooks.  However we would seek to replicate the same ODBC connection.

Are there rights and privileges we need to give the user on the shipping machine for QODBC to succeed, or can we still rely on the fact that the ODBC connection uses the administrators name and pw?  Any help is appreciated, thank you.

QODBC can't use the administrators name while the user on the shipping machine is using QuickBooks. But if the process can be run while the user on the shipping machine is NOT using QuickBooks, then it will work.

See: What is error: 3260 (“Insufficient permission level to perform this action”)? for more.
