I have just gotten an evaluation version of the driver and of quickbooks to test if I can take on a project for a new client. When I tried to test connect to the database it gave an error saying "QODBC Expired Evaluation Version 6.00.00.176" Yet down the bottom of the driver setup screen it says 29 days left. Is there something I have done wrong here on installation.

The normal reasons for this to occur are:

a) You already have a licenced copy of QODBC (v5, 4 or 3) and have downloaded QODBC v6 and are trying to use it with QuickBooks 2006. As you already have a full QODBC license for QuickBooks 2005 (or 2004, or 2003), QODBC v6 will only work to the license year you have and will not work with QuickBooks 2006. It will say the 30 day evaluation has expired and the 29 days left in this case is refering to the QODBC v6 Optimizer evaluation period left.

Resolution: You will need to purchase QODBC v6 in order to use QuickBooks 2006, (likewise you will need to purchase QODBC v7 in order to use QuickBooks 2007 and so on).

b) You are using a different country version of QuickBooks than the region you selected when you installed QODBC. For example, a couple of New Zealand users have tried the USA evaluation of QuickBooks and QODBC, and then installed the full version of the New Zealand edition of QuickBooks --- only to find that QODBC will then say it has expired.

Resolution: Reinstall QODBC using the correct region.

I have installed Quickbooks 2006 trial version only 2 days ago.
I downloaded the QODBC on the same day. I have reinstalled both of them. Is there a way I can check which region the Quickbooks is for so that I can set my QODBC to the same region.

See: Quiet install and selecting Region, but you need to register your trial copy of QuickBooks before you can use QODBC.

Hi Tom
I have activated my trial version of quickbooks now and tried changing the version of qodbc through the registery to each region before trying to connect again. UK US CA OZ. All still give the same message. The setup exe file has a CA in it so I assume it is the one to set it to.
I don't believe it should matter that I am actually in the UK should it? so long as I have CA in both installations.

I will try to reinstall QODBC now that my quickbooks is registered in case that works.
