I recently downloaded and installed the QODBC v8 product and installed it on my laptop but when I try to set it up it comes up saying "Evaluation Expired", I have tried uninstalling it and cleaning everything out of the registry as well as the ODBC setup then reinstalling but I get the same error, is there something else I need to do to run it in the evaluation mode?

If you have installed QODBC before, installing QODBC v8 doesn't give you another 30 evaluation period. If you have activated a CD Key with a Serial No prior to the QuickBooks year version you are using, you will also get a "Evaluation Expired" message.

Regardless, if you open one of the QuickBooks Sample company files (instead of your company file), QODBC continues to work despite the "Evaluation Expired" message.

I'll go back and give it a try but I thought I was getting an error when I tried to access the data that also said it had expired. I had downloaded and install it about a year ago and never got the time to build and test my application so I uninstalled it a few months ago then recently I decided I needed to get back to building the application so I downloaded the latest version but I had been trying to use the same company file that would have been used last year, I'll try a new test file.
I'd like to be able to use my existing data for the trial so I can do some real world examples, if I create a new company file from scratch and then restore from a backup of my existing company file will I be able to read and write to that file?

No, a expired evaluation will only work with the sample company files. You need to setup test data within one of the sample company files to use with what you want to do with QODBC or purchase a CD Key to activate the product.
