Hi,
I've downloaded the evaluation version of QOCBC driver v7. I have quickbooks version 6.0. I've created a system DSN on my windows XP machine but when I do a "Test Connection" from the ODBC manager I get the following error.
Open Connection Failed. S0000 00000 [QODBC] QB Open Connection Failed. Create QB COM Instance Error = 80040154, Unknown error. SDK Module: QBXMLRP.DLL
I get this error whether I point to a quickbooks file on the network or use the file that's currently open in quickbooks. can anyone help?
thanks, Greg |

The QuickBooks company file needs to be in multi-user mode and the company file open in QuickBooks on your Windows XP machine when you try connecting for the first time. Instead of using the "Test Connection" button, follow the procedure shown here: How do I connect to QuickBooks for the first time? instead. |

Hi,
thanks for the quick reply. I've tried following the link you gave "How to connect to quickbooks for the first time" and I downloaded the registerall.zip and ran the registerall.vbs but we I do I get an error it seems on every DLL that says "DLLRegisterServer entry point was not found. The file cannot be registered." Do you have any idea why I might be getting this?
thanks, Greg |

You haven't said much about what you are running. For example you need to register your copy of QucikBooks before QODBC will be able to connect. If you installed different versions of QuickBooks, QODBC will only work with the last version of QuickBooks installed. You need to be logged into Windows using a admistrative user account, not a limited user account.
Based on what you have said so far, you might need to re-install QuickBooks and reinstall QODBC v7 afterwards. |
