Hi guys,

We are having a bit of a problem when linking tables in access...

I think their may be an error in the quickbooks tables. When we try and link the customer table to access it does not display any of the information. When using the VB demo software that comes with QODBC, if you try to query the customer table, again it does not display any of the info. Anyone have any ideas on a way to access the info and remove the bits causing the problem?

Thanks!

Hopefully you are really saying here that you can see all the tables, except the Customer table. If that's the case, this is a common problem with the Australian edition of QuickBooks. It you open one of the sample company files instead of your company file, QODBC will display the customer table. You will need to restore a backup of your company file and try it instead.

Hi Tom,

It does link all the table except the customer one and a tax one which I think there may be a problem with as well.
Biggest problem being that this company has not ever closed off the company file so it has 7 odd years of information in it and they do not have a backup that does not have these errors in it. any other ideas that you can think of?

Sorry, the last company file sent up to Quicken with this type of problem was returned by Quicken saying nothing was wrong with it. Another Australian user has had limited success using the USA version of QBXMLRP2.DLL v6.0.17.4005 instead of version 3.0.4.1 used in the Australian versions of QuickBooks 2005 & 2006/07.

See: Can not select data from Customer table - Internal Error when Processing request for the background. Note: Swaping QBXMLRP2.DLL versions is not supported by us ... use at your own risk!

Hi again Tom,

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you about your response, I have not actually tried what you have suggested as yet. I will be giving it a go later in the week. I just through I would give you some more information that the company owner has pasted on to see if you come up with any other ideas.

If he tried to do a backup of the company file he will get the following error: QuickBooks has detected a potential problem in your data file. Please restart QuickBooks and open this company file. From the Windows menu, choose Close All. Then, from the File menu, choose Utilities, and then choose Verify Data. C = 43

The same error comes up if we try and open the register on one particular client.

When you try to verify the data the message: Problem, A data problem prevents QuickBooks from continuing. Solution, Rebuild your data now. Close all windows and choose Utilities and then Rebuild Data from the File menu.
Then when you try to Rebuild the data you have to backup the company file which it does itself alright by the looks, when it continues onto the Rebuilding data file phase it appears to pass the first of the two stages that it goes through, on the second stage it gets to 17% and comes up with the C = 43 error i mentioned above, and aborts the rebuild.

The other thing that will cause the C = 43 error is if we ask for a report on the Tax Amount for a bill on a specific date. If we ask for the Tax Amount on any other date we do not get any errors at all.

We have managed to find out the specific Transaction Numbers for the entries that we believe are causing the problem, but are unsure/unable to delete/correct these specific transactions.

If you have ever heard of this or come across it before, any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tom,

Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you about your suggestion below. I have not had a chance to try it as of yet. I am intending on giving it a go later on this week. Just thought I would give you a bit more information that the company owner has passed onto me.

The actually error we are getting is the following:

QuickBooks has detected a potential problem in your data file.
Please restart QuickBooks and open this company file. From the Windows menu, choose Close All. Then, from the File menu, choose Utilities, and then choose Verify Data.
The error number is C = 43
When you do as it asks, it starts to the Verify Data and it will get about 3/4 of the way through and comes up with the following problem:
Problem: A data problem prevents QuickBooks from continuing.
Solution: Rebuild your data now. Close all windows and choose Utilities and then Rebuild Data from the File menu.
Again...  When you try to do this it will pass the first of the two stages it goes through, when it gets to the second stage it will get to 17% and then it will produce the same error as above ( C = 43).

What we do to produce the error:

1. Trying to upgrade to the newer version of QuickBooks (Verify data/backup etc.)
2. Ask for a report on the Tax Amount under the bills sections (This will only produce the error if we ask it on a specific date, you can ask ANY other date and it will products the Tax Amounts for all the bills.
3. If we ask to use the Register on this one specific client (the error pops up as soon as the register opens.)

If it helps at all, I have the specific Transaction Numbers for the 2 specific entries that we believe are causing all the problems we are having. We are just unsure/unable to change/delete these specific entries.

If you have ever seen/heard of this before or have any other thoughts that may be able to help us, they would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance!

The C = 43 error indicates that the company file is corrupted and this will need to be rectified by Quicken in Sydney. Do not swap QBXMLRP2.DLL versions!
