QODBC auto-login problem, works when QB is running |

Hi guys,
I have a problem with QODBC 8 and QuickBooks 8. It does not want to auto-connect to the database. The problem is similar to several other posts I have seen in your forum. My application (Visual Basic in Access) works great whenever QuickBooks is running. Also, I have Release 6 (R6).
I applied the 12 steps from that post, in case my certificate was corrupted by the older version of QB:
http://www.qdeveloper.com.au/forum.php?homeinclude=topicdetails&forum_id=1&category_id=2&post_id=1
And it did not help.
Note by the way that the images in that older post seem wrong to me. When the QuickBooks window opens, it says that the application has a certificate (and it shows it that way.)
Also, you mentioned the use of VBDEMO32.exe, that does not connect at all. Whether QuickBooks is open or not, it fails.
Similarly, the "Test Connection to QuickBooks" from your setup panel fails. Again, whether QuickBooks is open or not.
However, the difference in the last two cases, your panel and the VB demo both will open QuickBooks automatically. However, QuickBooks asks me to select one of the company files and before I have a chance to open the file, I get an error saying that a file is already loaded and that it is the wrong file. (usually error #8004041d)
Everything runs on the same computer (WinXP). The file is defined on a local disk.
If you have any idea what I could try next, it would be great!
Thank you. Alexis Wilke |

When you conect through MS Access, QuickBooks will tell you that MS Access has a certificate. To automatically connect to QuickBooks, QuickBooks must not be running already and in the case of MS Access, you need to ensure you have a DFQ parameter in your connection string, for example:
ODBC Connect Str: ODBC; DSN=QuickBooks Data;SERVER=QODBC;DFQ=C:\Program Files\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\sample04.qbw;OpenMode=M; |
