To whom it may concern,

I have a client that is thinking of purchasing and using the FLEXQuarters QODBC but wants to confirm something first.  He has a Web Online store with everything on it including a Shopping Cart.  Since he's using QuickBooks he needs to ensure that he will be able to read the "PRICE" and "QUANTITY ON HAND" fields along with (this is the most important question) being able to modify the "QUANTITY ON HAND" field on the QuickBooks Company File.  He wants to ensure that he knows how to do this 'real-time' without any manual intervention like keying in the data because then it would not really be 'real-time'  but unacceptable time as far as he is concerned.  The only other thing that I can remember at this point in time is that he is not going to do this on a client but will be doing it on a server.

Thank you,

Marvin

Using QODBC you can read the quantity on hand and price in real time. When you create invoices using QODBC, stock quantities are automatically adjusted. You can however preform inventory adjustments including value adjustments. For example, I can even decide I have ten items of something and what the cost is (or COGS).... yes stock on the fly.

Tom,

I thank you very much for your fast reply.  I guess the first thing I must say is that my client does not know how to create the invoice.  I have no idea whatsoever on even where to start looking for the information.  I guess the important thing at this point is how to convey to my client the instructions needed to create a sales order, invoice, credit memo, purchase order or any other transaction that affects the "Quantity on Hand" field in QuickBooks so the stock quantities will be automatically adjusted.  I would appreciate it if you could rephrase everything except the first two sentences without any typo errors.  I am not sure if you meant to say 'You can however NOT preform inventory adjustments including value adjustments." or not.  The next thing is that I have to assume that my client will want to know how to decrease and increase the "Quantity on Hand" field in QuickBooks by using the QODBC so if you could direct me to the necessary information that would be appreciated.  I assume that the increasing and decreasing of Inventory Quantities can always be done through QuickBooks itself but then it would not be done in a 'real time' mode.  The last thing is that I noticed that the time our postings were posted is expressed in military time and is late at night so I am assuming that you are actually in .  The last question becomes is there an American (USA) version of this forum so that if needed it will be possible to call the responder and maybe even talk face to face with them? If we are allowed to exchange E-mail addresses (some Forums do not allow it) please respond with yours and I will use it to E-mail you in the future.  Again, I appreciate your quick response and although I have to wait a while, have a very nice weekend.   Thank you for reading all of this and hope to hear from you soon.         Take care,         Marvin Weil

There's no typo in what I said, you CAN do inventory adjustments including value adjustments using QODBC. Here's a basic road map to what you want to know:

How do I add customers?
How do I create Invoices?
How do I create a Sales Order using QODBC?
How do I convert a Sales Order into an Invoice?
How do I create Credit Memos?
How do I create Vendors (Suppliers)?
How do I create a Purchase Order using QODBC?
How do I convert a Purchase Order into a Bill?
How do I do Inventory Adjustments?
