When I try to link to a table in MS Access no tables appear for sales orders.

Am I able to access sales orders and sales order lines through QODBC (V6.0.0.176) for QB Premier 2006/7 for New Zealand?

Well, they have worked for me for over three years now. The tables are: SalesOrder, SalesOrderLine and SalesOrderLinkedTxn. The Sales and SalesLine tables are actually custom views, that include all invoices, credits and receipts, are currently only avaliable for USA versions of QuickBooks.

I am not using the USA version and I would like to access the tables you mention, ie. SalesOrder, SalesorderLine etc. but as you can see below the list of tables I can link to does not include these tables. Could I be doing something wrong?

Try looking at the tables in VB Demo. The SalesOrder, SalesOrderLine and SalesOrderLinkedTxn tables are seen in my copy of MS Access and QuickBooks 2006/07 Premier (Australian Edition):

Is QODBC using the Admin account? It almost looks as if QODBC has insufficient permission levels. See: What is error: 3260 (“Insufficient permission level to perform this action”)?  for more.

Nope still no joy, but I think you put me onto something.

I also had the  "Forum : QB Open Connection Failed. Error = 8004042f" error which was as a result of me installing SDK V5 for USA and its subsequent unstall leaving behind at least several files including QBXMLRP2.DLL and by the sounds of it others as well. (I uninstalled SDK V5 prior to downloading QODBC.)

For the record, I have tried what you suggest to log in as admin and to try it with the VBDemo application, and it still does not list the sales order tables. I also double checked the setting in the QB Preferences that the integrated application for QODBC logs in as admin.

For your reference I cleared the sdk log file and ran VBDemo and listed the tables and then just to see executed SELECT * FROM SalesOrder. The latter resulted in an error stating the table did not exist. The contents of the log is include at the end.

I'm guessing I need to clean up whatever other daggy bits the unstall of SDK V5 has left behind, I'm hoping that you know what these are. Would I be able to resolve the problem by completely uninstalling QODBC, and QuickBooks and then delete anything remaining in C:\Program Files\Intuit? (My data files are elsewhere on our LAN) and reinstalling from scratch? Or are there registry settings or other files (eg in C:\WINDOWS\...) that require extermination. (Also will I loose one of my precious 5 Quickbook licenses if I do this?)

Lastly you might be able to either or both suggest to the relevent parties that 1. The SDK V5 uninstall is improved so that it removes itself completely (or warn the user and document which files it installed but did not remove) and/or 2. That QODBC install detect incompatible files and asks the user if they wish to replace them.

I am very exited that I am oh so close to the data I need but yet so far away, I look forward to your reply and I do thank you Tom for your help.

Vincent

Sorry this forum is for QODBC and not SDK support. Quicken charge us for Australian/New Zealand/Asia Pacific SDK support.   If you really need to get this working on your computer, please delete your:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

folder and re-install your New Zealand Quickbooks Premier 2006/07 edition as a new install and install QODBC again afterwards. Integrated Applications are only designed by Intuit to work with one (SDK) copy of QuickBooks.

Looking at your log the current version of qbXML in use is: OZ2.0, this should be AU3.0 and explains why your missing the Template table and a lot of other stuff. QODBC thinks it's still working with QuickBooks 2003! The connection to Sales Order should look like this:

20060824.124347 I 3748 QBSDKProcessRequest Application named 'FLEXquarters
QODBC' starting requests (process 2168).
20060824.124347 I 3748 SpecVersion Current version of qbXML in use: AU3.0
20060824.124347 I 3748 QBSDKMsgSetHandler QUERY: Sales Order
20060824.124347 I 3748 SalesOrderStorage::DoQuery Returning no more than
00000500 salesOrders
20060824.124347 I 3748 QBSDKMsgSetHandler Request 1 completed successfully.
20060824.124347 I 3748 MsgSetHandler Finished.
20060824.124347 I 3748 QBSDKProcessRequest Application named 'FLEXquarters
QODBC' finishing requests (process 2168), ret = 0.

Once you remove all the common files and re-install QuickBooks and QODBC, your copy of QODBC should work the same too!
