Access 2007 Connectivity Problem |

Upgrading from Windows XP/Quickbooks Enterprise 6.0/Access 2003/QODBC 6.00 to Windows XP/Quickbooks Enterprise 6.0/Access 2007/QODBC 8.00 on a new machine and cannot connect through Access 2007. I can run queries through VB Demo, however. Any ideas what may be the problem with Access 2007? |

I'm fairly convinced that my version of QuckBooks is not compatible with Access 2007 and QODBC 8.00. I tried creating a new database and a linked table per the example and when I try to run a query against it I get results with about every 10th row containing data and the rest of the rows displaying #Deleted in every column. I also get 3 or 4 QODBC Driver Status windows opening above the system tray stuck on record 1 of 1. Again, a VBDemo query brings the results up almost immediately. |

For MS Access 2003 or 2007 to work correctly you must first check that you are running QODBC v8.0.0.240 or higher (see: How can I get the latest version of QODBC? ) and then change your optimization settings to use the The start of every new connection (with "Load Updated Data" first) option and confirm that the Multi-Table Sync option has been disabled. If not, uncheck the Multi-Table Sync option as this is often defaulted on (checked) with QuickBooks Enterprise and the QODBC Enterprise Desktop Edition.
Once this has been done, unlink all the QODBC tables in your existing MS Access .mdb(s) or .accdb(s) and then relink them to use these new connection settings.
For the complete details of all the QODBC optimizer settings, see: How do I setup the QODBC Optimizer? Where are the Optimizer options? |

I'm still fully convinced of what I said earlier, that QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 6.0 is not compatible with Access 2007 and QODBC 8.00. I tried all of the suggestions you gave and never got it to work. I am now testing with QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 7.0, Access 2007, and QODBC 8.00 and everything seems to be working fine.
My problem is now moot, as we were planning all along to move to QBES 7.0. We were trying to take it one step at a time, i.e., to change only one piece of the mix before changing another, and that is where we got into trouble. I'm just happy it's all working now. |
