I am confused - the docs show to install QODBC on both the host and remote PC.  I have it installed on the remote pc (where the QB file is located) and registered it, but when I install on the host (where QB is installed) it says license exhausted when I try to enter the same code.  Do I need to worry about the full QODBC install on the host ...meaning, do I only need it installed to get the remote going?  I hope I do not need to purchase 2 users...for this is only one user on a citrix farm where data is on one server, qb on another.

Please clarify. thanks.

To get this feature to work, you need to install QODBC on both the machine you have hosting the data (the one running QuickBooks), and the machine you want to use the data from (the remote system or client). Once this is done, a few simply settings in the driver setup screen are all that is required to use this data remotely as can been seen at: I do not want to install QuickBooks on every machine. How do I setup QODBC Remote?

However, QODBC is licensed per computer, so two licenses are required for two computers (Host and Client) and another license for each additional client.

One final question - do we need both the read/write desktop version on both the host & remote server or can we save money by getting a read/write on the host and only a read on the remote (or vise versa)?

The best approach would be a QODBC Read/Write Desktop Edition on the remote PC (client) and a QODBC Read Only Desktop Edition on the Host (the one running QuickBooks).
