Hey everyone - I need some help!

I constantly import and export BillExpenseLine and the TaxCode data to and from a SQL database. Now that I have upgraded to 2008 I desperately need determine where I retrieve tax information related to an expense.  I understand where the TaxCodes are now stored, but I have no idea how to link an item in BillExpenseLine to a specific SalesTaxCode (basically, what the heck happened to 'TaxCodeRefListID'  how does a BillExpenseLine now reference a taxcode...

Secondly, when will the online documentation be updated for the canadian version?  I realize is a procedure called sp_columns, but it doesnt help me in this case because the columns in SalesTaxCode and ItemSalesTax doesnt seem to have and useful jumps or relation info...

This is an incompatibility between Intuit's qbXML SDK 6.0 now in the new QuickBooks 2008 Canadian Edition and SDK 3.0CA that's part of the Canadian version of QuickBooks 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I've reported this issue to the QODBC Software Engineer under QSupport Ticket ID: BR00000079 for further investigation. There is no time frame set for when I will receive a reply.

Is there anywhere that I can lookup the status of the ticket?

Have the developers addressed when roughly when this is likely to be resolved?  I am really being pressed about time lines right now by management.

Is it possible to talk to a developer and get a timeline on the fix here?  I am trying to determine if I need to purchase a different solution.

QODBC users should note that there are currently several known issues with using Intuit's qbXML SDK v6 with QuickBooks 2008 Canadian Edition.

Here's Intuit's reply to our bug posting regarding: No Data is Returned from Estimate table . Along with a list of other things that are broken:

Yes, this is a known issue. This bug (QBCA001426) is in the list of QB_CA_2008 issues (see below) we recently escalated to QB_CA engineering team. They are actively working on fixing them. We don't have an ETA as of yet but the release of these fixes are likely in a patch release of QB.

Thanks,
- Iqbal

According to this post, sales tax can't be added, but when I query the tables directly, my tax amounts don't show up anywhere.

Am I doing something wrong? I don't foresee a need for the gst but the pst becomes a part of the cost and is needed.

I read somewhere that the SDK v7 fixes these problems? Can you confirm if this is correct and if so, when QODBC may update to V7?

Quickbooks 2008 CA is causing a lot of problems for Canadian business's, it would be nice if some things worked like they are supposed to!

You need to check that you are running the latest update "R4P" (or later) to the QuickBooks 2008 Canadian Edition (do Crtl-1 when in QuickBooks to see what updates are installed on your copy of QuickBooks).

We are up to date, currently showing R5P.

The Sales tax percent, and total tax are appearing in Invoice, InvoiceLine shows sales tax percent, total tax, and invoicelinesalestaxcode.  These are also in the CreditMemo tables but no other tables that I can see.

You now need to use QODBC v9 with Canadian versions of QuickBooks 2008 and 2009, see: QODBC Pre-release Candidate 9.0.0.251 now avaliable for download

Do I get a free upgrade to v9 since I was unable to use QODBC for 2008 for my intended purpose?

Your CDKey Code continues to work with QODBC v9 at the QuickBooks year your licensed for as shown by your Serial Number. (x08U....... means QuickBooks 2008 - see the About tab in the QODBC Setup Screen). Simple install the new version over your current installed version without using your CDKey Code.
