I am using the QODBC as a demo before I purchase.  I have it installed on a PC that has QB 2006.  The data file in on another PC in multi-user mode.

I installed it and managed to connect to the QBW fine and even pulled one query.  I never got a SUCCESS message when originally tested.  But since it connected i thought it was ok.

Everytime i would try to run a Query using VB Demo it would just HANG.  It also would HANG QB.  After 5 minutes or so of being frozen i had to kill VB DEMO and QB in Task Manager.  Funny thing was it showed 2 versions of QB running.  This has happened Multiple Times.

I decided there was some installation issue since i did not get an SUCCESS MESSAGE.

I install the QODBC just fine and have all of the sub programs on the Start Menu/Programs.  I open up QB on the machine then set up the connection according to the instructions.  When i use the TEST MY CONNECTION i do not get a success message but a pop up that says: DISPLAY AN ONLINE LIST OF CONNECTION ERRORS & THEIR SOLUTION  YES/NO.  Well i have scoured the forum and can't find an answer.

Any ideas?  I know it sees the database.

Tom,

Thanks for the reply.  I did check that link previously and it didn't help.

I have followed the installation procedure to the T.  But still can't get the SUCCESS connection (yet still sees database).  Could it be due to the data file on a different PC and the this was installed on a Laptop via wireless connection???  The wireless connection is perfect and QB runs fine in this multi-user LAN configuration.

Also, I installed it on another PC at my house that has the file local and it installed Perfectly with a SUCCESS message.  So i don't know what issues it is having on the original connection.

Thanks in advance.

If you followed the directions to a T, you would have saw:-

a) QuickBooks must be on the computer you are running.
b) QuickBooks must be registered (do Ctrl-1 while QuickBooks is running to check)
c) The company file must be open
d) Use VB Demo to connect using the Machine Data Source "QuickBooks Data"
e) You will need to authorize the QODBC connection in QuickBooks.

If you use VB Demo it will return a error message, if the connection fails.
