Error 80040408, Could not start QuickBooks |

I am using QODBC 8.00.00.242 as a linked server to SQL Server 2005. A group of queries runs once an hour. The configuration is to Auto Login to QB and not to launch the UI. The system works for days or weeks at a time. Then it starts returning this error: Error 80040408, Could not start QuickBooks. Once this error occures, it repeats on all subsequent queries. A QBW32.EXE task is running in the background but not consuming any CPU. Clicking the Test Connection to Quickbooks button on the QODBC Driver setup screen returns the same error. If I end the QB32.EXE session from Task Manager, then the Test Connection button returns success. How do I prevent the system from getting stuck? |

As with all automated systems using QODBC, you need to reboot the server at least every week. QuickBooks is running as an application and not as a Windows Service here, so should a query crash or be terminated, it can leave a QB32.EXE session not belonging to anyone or any QODBC session (as it has already crashed or has been terminated). |
