I've just installed the QODBC driver on my server and I've set up the Remote Connector portion to connect back to QB Premier 2007.  I can connect when QB is open without using Remote Connector but if I try to run a DTS it can't connect back so I set up the RC portion.  I went into QB and set up a SQLAdmin account with a password.  Then used that user and password in the Remote Connector portion.  When I try to use the Remote connector a box keeps prompting me for my user and pass and I enter it and it just asks again until I cancel my process.  Thoughts?

The account and password needs to be the QuickBooks administrator account: admin

Only the admin account can allow access for the first time.

I've tried it with Admin and it didn't work, that is what led me to create a new account and try that.

Your QuickBooks company file must be setup to work in unattended mode. Switch off the remote connector and get it working on the computer running QuickBooks.

First, get auto-login working as per: How do I setup QODBC to auto-login into QuickBooks and start it if it's not running?

Then get the remote connector going on the computer running QuickBooks as per: I do not want to install QuickBooks on every machine. How do I setup QODBC Remote?

And only then copy the QODBC settings on any computers not running QuickBooks.

I went through all these steps and everything was already set up as discussed in the links you gave me.  When I connect with QB open everything is fine, the second I close it nothing will connect at all, even the VB application.  I then go in to the setup screen and configure it to use the Remote Connector and provide a username and password, I type in admin and the same password that I use to log into QB.  When I then go to run the VB Demo I am prompted to enter the username and password but they don't seem to work.

I stated that in my first post on this thread and you've never really addressed my issue, you just keep pointing me to things created for other issues. Please be a little more helpful than pointing me to all the documentation that I've already used to get this this point.

I'm going to list my error messages for your reference:

One more note, the QB file is on the same machine as SQL and where I'm using the VB Demo, I'm only using the Remote connector because if I don't use the connect I get errors, if I do use the connector I at least get a login prompt which tells me that I'm at least hitting the QB file.

I just tried turning it off again and the VB Demo would not work at all, then I opened QB and tried it and it runs fine.

Thoughts?

Matt

Like it or not, unattended mode is still not working. This means you will not be able to connect to the company file unless QuickBooks and the company file is open.

You must get auto-login working as per: How do I setup QODBC to auto-login into QuickBooks and start it if it's not running?

And as you already said, "I've done that", but that doesn't matter if it doesn't work? The same topic also points to: After upgrading to QuickBooks 2006 or 2007, QODBC "auto-login" unattended mode no longer works? which provides a workaround to get unattended mode working. There is a known problem that exists in the QuickBooks qbXML SDK from Intuit, caused by QuickBooks when upgrading an existing QuickBooks company file to the new 2006 (or 2007) USA format or even adding new user accounts to your QuickBooks company file.

The link: "After upgrading to QuickBooks 2006 or 2007, QODBC "auto-login" unattended mode no longer works? ".  Seemed to do it, I didn't do an upgrade, it was a clean install but it still seemed to fix it.  Thanks.
