| Problem with v6-v7 Upgrade and QB OE |

Hello!
We've been using QODBC v6 since February 2006 and have been very happy with the efficiency it allows us. We run a monthly job to create invoices for our customer-businesses. This month (8/1) the job wouldn't run without asking for my CD key several times and warning that I needed to enable Desktop features (ours is a R/W license). I found a post noting that OE had been upgraded, so I upgraded to v7 using my v6 key as mentioned here: http://www.qdeveloper.com.au/forum.php?homeinclude=topicdetails&forum_id=1&category_id=19&post_id=1293.
However, upgrading to v7 not only didn't seem to work (it keeps asking for the CD key) it now also crashes after any attempt to connect to QBOE. This is the text from the Windows error dialog (it won't let me cut and paste the full report):
FLEXquarters.com LLC QuickBooks ODBC Driver Full Sync has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Error Signature - AppName: qodbctst.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.180 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 34343134
So, more digging turned up this thread about an OE-specific problem and patch: http://www.qdeveloper.com.au/forum.php?homeinclude=topicdetails&forum_id=1&category_id=40&post_id=1643
This patch appears to require a v7 license, and ours is a v6. The $200 question is this: Do we need to pay for this upgrade, and is this the only way to make OE work again?
Thank you!

Yes, you can't just download QODBC v7 for QuickBooks 2007 and use it will your QODBC v6 for QuickBooks 2006 CD Key. You need to purchase a new CD Key for QuickBooks 2007.
It's possible QODBC may have a special 12 month subscription edition for QuickBooks Online Edition (QBOE) in the future.
Please also download the special patch for QBOE found at: QBOE Problem |
