What are the table and field names needed locate and  insert a freight line item into quickbooks from UPS worldship? I have a service item named "freight" in inventory.

Yes, using QODBC you can add a invoice line with shipping charges and details or add a memo or custom field with the details. See: Do you have an example on how to modify existing invoices and add lines also?

Well both me  and the UPS IT guy thought it would be a slam dunk using the TxId to find the right invoice to add the line and it does find it, but we got ODBC ERROR = S0000 field not allowed in insert when writing to Item, Description, rate, or Amount. He could write to a custom field. Any idea what went wrong?

Well I guess you slam dunk didn't pay attention. You cannot perform insers on the invoice table, you must only do inserts using the invoiceline table. Because the invoice already exists you must the Plan B method as shown in: Using ClassRefListID when inserting invoice lines
