iBiz connection quits at five pm |

I'm having a bit of a problem and hopefully someone can give an assist.
I have three machines in this scenario. The accountant's machine, my machine - the developer machine, and the file server where the Quickbooks data files are stored. The developer machine pulls data into MS Access without any problems and things for the most part run fine. The problem is the accountant's machine, which is a little slower.
When I'm pulling data across the network the accountant complains that his box slows down. To try and accommodate him I've tried pulling the data across after he goes home. Unfortunately this doesn't work, he was shutting his computer off and I couldn't get a connection via iBiz Remote. I've got him leaving the box on and logging off but I still can't get a connection.
So, I guess my question boils down to, does the accountant have to be logged into his box in order for me to access the data files? According to the documentation the toggle for allowing QODBC to access company files has been set for allowing access when Quickbooks is not running. But, I can't find anything regarding whether or not he has to be logged in. I was kind of hoping with the data files being stored on a seperate file server that it wouldn't become an issue. According to our IT "guy" things have been set up to the instructions but if there's a setting I can go and beat him about the head and ears with that hasn't been set I'd surely like to know. ;-) |

Both the QODBC Remote Connector and the iBiz Remote Connector are NOT Windows Services, therefore they need to run as a application on LOGGED in computers. Both QODBC and the iBiz Remote Connector talk to Intuit's SDK to QuickBooks which talks to the companyname.qbw file. So at no time does QODBC or the iBiz Remote Connector talk directly to the actual company file.
Because they talk to QuickBooks, QuickBooks also needs to run somewhere on a logged in computer. For further information see: I do not want to install QuickBooks on every machine. How do I setup QODBC Remote? |

Tom,
Thanks, answers the question, but, doesn't solve the problem. The accountant is going on holidays and will be shutting everything down and locking it up while he's away. Which effectively reduces me to sitting on my thumb.
