This issue is an Intuit SDK issue, not QODBC. Intuit required us to change unattended mode access for QuickBooks 2005 and 2006 (and is still the same for 2007), which we did from QODBC v6.00.00.150 onwards. Unfortunately, all 2005 company files that have been accessed previously by QODBC have this problem when the company file is converted by QuickBooks to the new 2006 or 2007 Sybase backend format. The conversion by QuickBooks corrupts the internal integrated applications settings and you need to do the 17 step workaround procedure.
When I upgraded my QuickBooks 2005 to QuickBooks 2007, I have use the procedure even though unattended (auto-login) mode was working previously with QODBC v6.00.00.176 before. |

Yeah, I know the problem is with the Intuit SDK and not QODBC.
But just so I'm clear, QODBC v7 was developed with the new Intuit SDK, correct? And the new SDK contains the same issue? |

QODBC v7 uses the SDK that's installed when QuickBooks is installed. So depending on the Year of your QuickBooks, a different SDK rev is installed. For QuickBooks 2006 it was qbXML v5, and for QuickBooks 2007 it's now qbXML v6, and yes v6 has the same problem as v5. |

How does this relate to Kowledge Base articles 1000269 (open a single file when QB is closed) and 1000264 (open multiple files when QB is closed) on the QuickBooks Support website?
What I mean is, do these articles only apply before the SDK changes? The only thing I saw on the Intuit support site is article 1000297 which I guess addresses the SDK changes, but it is more of a workaround than a fix. I have seen these steps before and posted on this website as well, but they don't always work. It would be nice if Intuit would just correct the issue and not force us to use workarounds. |

Hi All -
I wanted to post some additional problems I am experiencing with this. I am running QB2007 on Windows 2003 Server Standard. I was able to get the autologin working according to the 17 step process.
I started running some queries using QODBC, aside from a long connect time, it was fine. Then I wanted to switch to multi-user mode. I did this and the auto-login stopped working. This really sucked. I am going to continue testing and trying things as I am trying to finish a project in a short amount of time right now.
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks, Matt |

Changing a company file from Single User mode to Multi-User doesn't effect auto-login, as you need to be in single user mode to change Integrated Application preferences in any case, but adding a QuickBooks user does. This issue remains an Intuit problem and you need to voice your protests with your Intuit representative, not us.
The quickest fix is to go back to a company file that hasn't be connected with QODBC before and connect QODBC for the first time again. |

I'm running QBES v.7.0 r8 and I had auto login working on 4 company files last Friday. Today, auto-login will not work on any of them. I have changed no settings. The only thing that changed is switching from single user mode to multi-user mode. Its like QBES just "forgot" the settings. I need unattended mode to work. Frustrating.
I can't get the 17 step process mentioned on the forum to work. Any other ideas?
Anyone hear if Intuit is doing anything about this? |
