Hi,

  • I have a quickbooks company open in single user mode.
  • I am connecting with the VD demo app with an connection which is set to Multi user connect.
  • I am getting an error from the vb app that it cannot connect.
  • So I change the single user to multi user in Quickbooks.
  • Quickbooks closes the company and tries to open again
  • Quickbooks gives me an error when loading the company (first it stated that installation is changed, then I get it can not start the database server error code (-6123,0)) I get the same error opening any other company file.
  • So closing down Quickbooks.
  • Then trying to connect with the vbdemo and getting error 80040421 (begin session failed)
I tried restarting the service but then I get the following error:
"Begin session Failed. Error = 80040436, Recent changes to your configuration require you (the quickbooks administrator) to go into the interated applications preferences and re-autorize your intergrated application to login automatiscally."

Then I am stuck. Renoot the way to go and all work, did not try that while reporting this but that worked yesterday.

Restarted the database server again.
Starting again give me that my quickbooks installation may have been modified. Reinstall Quickbooks and try again.

I will reboot now so posting this message.

Whenever possible, the QODBC "Mode when opening" should be setup to be "Same as Company" and you should always have your company file open in multi-user mode within QuickBooks.

By the sounds of things you may have ran into a Intuit bug, see: After upgrading to QuickBooks 2006, QODBC "auto-login" unattended mode no longer works?
