hi,

When running a connection via QODBC i notice that in my trace log that the driver throws a series of exceptions :

first-chance exception in qbtest.exe (KERNEL32.DLL):0xc00000005:access violation
first-chance exception in qbtest.exe (KERNEL32.DLL):0xc00000005:access violation
first-chance exception in qbtest.exe (KERNEL32.DLL):0xc00000005:access violation
first-chance exception in qbtest.exe (KERNEL32.DLL):0xc00000005:access violation

My test application is working and these exceptions are caught and handled by the ODBC32 Library

I just want to know why these are occurring and if they are expected.

Thanks.

Sorry, these exception errors are most likely caused within your code, the QODBC driver makes the ODBC32 library use large or far pointers.

tom,

awesome - thanks for the reply!

that helps us loads - i ran the test code through as a stand alone application and did not see any of the access violations!  it appears that there is more going on with the legacy application than we thought.  this has been driving us crazy for over a week now.

thanks for the information and the help.  sometimes you just need the extra set of eyes.

so far the QODBC driver is working as expected, and it is our legacy application that is the source of all the problems we have encountered.  i will let you know how we get on.

thanks again
Lindsay
