I installed QODBC Server Edition V8 to local machine (without install a copy of QuickBooks) and remote machine (with a copy of QuickBooks).

From local machine, I try to open the QB File located on remote machine. It works fine with Remote Connector, but it doesn't work with DCOM Server with error: [QODBC] QB Open Connection Failed. Error = 80040154, Unknown Error.

I did a search for above error, it said that I FIRST MUST need to allow QuickBooks accept QODBC application login.

When I try open QB File with Remote Connector, the QuickBooks application on remote machine poped up the "QuickBooks - Application With No Certificate" dialog to allow me to select user login.  That is perfect

However, when I try to open QB File with DCOM Server, the QuickBooks application on remote machine does not pop up the "QuickBooks - Application With No Certificate" dialog for me at all. Of course, I connect to remote machice with server console.

 My questions are:

1. Do I need to install a copy of QuickBooks on local machine in order DCOM Server to work?

2. With DCOM Server configure, QuickBooks application in remote machine needs to be opend or closed?

The QODBC DCOMs only work if QuickBooks is on the same machine. See: QODBC and Windows Service for more.
