Had to reinstall QB2007.  QODBC stopped working, reinstallation attempts not fixing the problem.

Using QODBC "Test Connection to QB" button, returns:

"ODBC32AD.exe - unable to locate component" - boost_regex-vc80-mt-p-1_33.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the application may fix the problem"

Followed by:  "Test connection to QB failed" - QB Begin session failed - Error = 80040154 - Unknown Error

Uninstalling - using UNWISE as well as instructions elsewhere in this forum - and reinstalling does not help.  The uninstall process doesn't do a clean uninstall however, as its possible to still access the QODBC driver from the ODBC Adminstrator panel.  Please explain how to do a _complete_ clean uninstall, so that a good reinstallation can be done.

Thanks for your help,

Duncan.

Sorry, boost_regex-vc80-mt-p-1_33.dll is a QuickBooks component, it isn't a QODBC component. So the error is pointing to a QuickBooks problem. To force QODBC to re-install, simply delete the  C:\Program Files\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks folder and re-run the QODBC install program.

I have deleted the installation folder (Progfiles\QODBC Driver...etc) several times.

I will try looking harder at QB, but the installation of it looks good.  QB itself seems to function with no errors.

The error I am having is that I am unable to connect to QB through QODBC. Boost may be a QB component, but I don't see how i can test or make a connection any other way, or at any lower level than with the "test connection to QB" button in the configuration panel.

Your help is appreciated,

Duncan

When connecting to QuickBooks, it's possible that something has undone your QuickBooks COM registrations (like installing a previous version of QuickBooks). You can try downloading registerall.zip and running the registerall.VBS script contained in the zip file. This will re-register all the COM .DLLs in the QuickBooks directory for you. Once that's done, retry connecting.

If that doesn't work, you can trying running the "reboot.bat" file in file in the c:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks folder. Just locate the file in Windows Explorer and double click on it to execute it. This will reset the all the QuickBooks COM objects.

Thanks for the registerall & reboot suggestions.  Unfortunately, neither helped.

Uninstalled QODBC and QB2007 completely.  deleted both program directories.

Reinstalled from scratch, "Test Connection" in QODBC still doesn't work, this time a different error message:

"MSODBC Adminstrator:  Windows - Unable to locate component"

"Exception processing message c0000135 Parameters 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c"

- clicking the advanced tab of the QODBC configuration dialog  also brings up same message

I really cannot figure this out.  I'm quitting for today.  Thanks again for your help,

Duncan.

Alright, then let's get really tough as you need to get this working, please delete your:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

folder and re-install your copy of QuickBooks as a new install and install QODBC again afterwards.

From there do the: How do I connect to QuickBooks for the first time? procedure (that you know by heart now).

Based on what I've seen on other computers, I'm guessing that parts of a later version of QuickBooks are still in the Common Files folder that you most likely overlooked when you deleted the C:\Program Files\Intuit folder.

Sorry for the delay in responding - i wasn't able to get back to that machine until last night.

However, when I did get back to it, deleting the Common Intuit folder did the trick - thank you.  I hadn't realized that there was a common folder.  Silly that  the intuit uninstall program didn't remove those files.

At any rate - QODBC is now working as fantastically as ever on that machine - thank you very much for your help with it.

Best wishes,

Duncan.
