I have the following questions, having purchased the read/write version of QODBC (only interested in reading only right now)
1.8 GB file - how long, roughly, to do a full optimize? Once optimized, does extract happen immediately? If optimized when running report, what is the delay? If not optimized, what is the delay? Can I set up development off site by installing a user version of enterprise and the data file? Any way to just use the data file and not have enterprise installed? Does enterprise need to be open to import from the data file? Can do with Pro. What memory requirement does QODBC have? Given the 1.8 GB file I'm working with, is 1 GB memory sufficient?
Thanks.

The speed of optimizing data is dependent on the speed of your processor and hard drive. QODBC stored procedure reports (sp_reports) are not optimized. QODBC doesn't talk to the companyfile.qbw file, it talks to QuickBooks, so if QuickBooks isn't there, it doesn't work.
See: How do I setup the QODBC Optimizer? Where are the Optimizer options? for more. |
