Hi Tom,

I am developing an application using .Net and access database ( I link the QB dsn with my access db). The version of QB I am using is QuickBooks Pro Professional Business 2006-07. I have used the "Stadium Construction and Hardware Pty Ltd QB Premier" company file and entered some sample data for my application. I want this company file to be configured to the DSN when my application launches.

I had also created the QB DSN programatically and refer the company file path which will be present in my project's bin directory. The dsn is created succesfully, even the test is also succesfull ( I had opened this company file through the QB s/w).

The problem is my application fails to connect to the DSN if the company file is in my projects bin directory. If I place the same company file in C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro, my application is able to connect to the DSN and I am able to fetch the data.

So, my question is should the company file be present in the application path of QB s/w or am I missing anything here.

Please help me to come out of this situation.

Thanks & Regards,

Hari.

The QuickBooks company file can be anywhere. In fact in multi-user situations, it's on the servers mapped drive. Try looking at: How do I setup QODBC to auto-login into QuickBooks and start it if it's not running? and How do I build a connection string with all the available QODBC parameters?  for further help.
