QB Data to Excel config loop |

When I use QODBC 9.00 to get data from QB Enterprise 9.0 to Excel 2000 I get a "Please wait while Windows configures Quickbooks" in a QuickBooks window continuously. I let it runs for minutes and it seems to be stuck in a loop. I have to click Cancel repeatedly, then I see my data. This is with only the Customer Name field and with only one record to retrieve. Does anyone have a solution here? I have tried disabling the Optimizer Multi-table Sync option as mentioned in another post with no change. |

"Please wait while Windows configures Quickbooks" is a QuickBooks error, please contact QBES support directly. |

After over an hour with QBES, they said it's not QB and to go back to QODBC for a solution. I have to agree. Further data is that QODBC works fine in Crystal Reports, and works fine in Excel Query Editor. It's only when the Excel Wizard or the Excel Query Editor actually moves the data to the worksheet does the "installing" loop occur. I applied Excel's SP 3 but no change. I see this in the QODBC SDK Message log, "20081117.162608 E 2208 AccountStorage::BuildTheRetObject This feature is not enabled or not available in this version of QuickBooks. HRESULT=0x80040527". Any ideas? |

I already had MS Query Add-in installed, and followed those steps.
Everything works exactly as in the doc until this step:
Click “OK” and the data will be populated into the existing Excel worksheet
But instead of seeing the data in the worksheet, I get these screens repeatedly in a stuck loop. I have to click Cancel numerous times to stop the loop. Then my data appears in the worksheet.
I do get a momentary Command window that says “The system cannot find the path specified”.

This may happen with several programs if you do a repair install. The Windows Installer that is used to install Office also contains self-healing technology. When another application replaces program files in Office, the Windows Installer detects that these files were "tampered with," and attempts to correct the problem.
How to correct the problem?
Using Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, uninstall SupportSoft (or ComcastSupport, Sony Support Software, Tioga, or another make of this type of program as applicable), and restart the computer. After the computer restarts, you may need to reinstall Office, as you may have already rolled Office back to an older version prior to you uninstalling it. Perform a backup of your QuickBooks company files, other databases and spreadsheets prior to reinstalling Office. |

Thanks for the advice, which I would have liked to try, but I already handled the problem. I installed Office 2007 (keeping Excel 2000) in an attempt to fix the problem, which it did. All works as shown in the doc now in Excel 2000. Thank you. |

Tom,
I didn't like Excel 2007 so I uninstalled it, and the QODBC config-loop problem came back using Excel 2000. I did what you suggested (removed SupportSoft and reinstalled Excel 2000) , but there was no change. I finally fixed the problem by using Windows Update to update .NET 1.1 with SP 1. All is OK now.
I just thought you'd like to know.
Thanks, Rick Catarineau |

Thanks for the feedback ..... QODBC support is easy compared to Windows support! |
