I have the following statement for updating the CustomerType Table but I get a runtime error 3157
isql = "update qbtCustomerType set IsActive = -1 where ListID = '" & wsCustTypeID & "'"
Is this valid for QODBC

The CustomerType table can only be queried or have new records added (INSERTed). Existing rows can't be updated.
