998 Data Execution Prevention errors have been corrected by QODBC Build Release 5.0.0.103 and higher. Please download the latest QODBC v5 release by clicking here:

http://www.qodbc.com/download/qodbc5.exe

and install the update over your current Release 5 installation of QODBC. You should also consider moving to QODBC v6 or later.

FAQ History
Prior to Build Release 5.0.0.103, there was an open issue with QODBC and Data Execution Prevention on newer processors like the AMD. The workaround was that you can add certain programs to the exception list.

To get to the DEP settings run Conrol Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Advanced(Tab) -> Settings(Button under performance) -> Data Execution Prevention(Tab).

Click the "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:" and then Add c:\windows\system32\odbcad32.exe to the list. Run the QODBC setup program.

If the All programs option was on when you started then after running the QODBC setup and creating or adjusting the QODBC setting, return to the DEP settings and set it back to on only for essential Windows programs. If the All programs options was originially on, you will have to add all programs that you call QODBC with to the exception list.
