I am trying to get QODBC to connect to my QuickBooks database from Microsoft Access without having to open QuickBooks.  I have configured QuickBooks and QODBC as mentioned in the FAQ.  QODBC seems to work fine this way, at least as far as running the test connection and it succeeded without opening QuickBooks.  The first time I open QODBC from Access I get the prompt from QuickBooks about allowing the application to access QuickBooks and I configure it exactly like I did the QODBC application.  I then have two QODBC entries in QuickBooks.  But when I close QuickBooks and try to open a QODBC linked table from Access it acts like it wants to open QuickBooks (Sometimes I see my QuickBooks reminders and such with no interface), but I jet get an error that the tabel cannot be found.  Any idea how I sould handle this situation or if it is even possible?  It works great if I open QuickBooks first.

I suggest you try setting up a pass-through query as shown at: How do I create a Pass-Through Report using Microsoft Access 2003? but change the "ODBC Connect Str" to call QODBC like this:

ODBC;DSN=QuickBooks Data;SERVER=QODBC;DFQ=C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 2006\sample_service-based business.qbw

Where:
DSN = the DNS you wish to use
DFQ = the full path to the company file you wish to open.

See: How do I build a connection string with all the available QODBC parameters? for more.
