I have a situation where it would be nice to be able to run the QODBC web server edition read/write and the QODBC OEM that comes with QB enterprise on different computers accessing the same company file at the same time.

When I tried to do this I started with a windows 2000 server with QB enterprise v7 and QODBC v7 web server read/write edtion installed and working.

Second I wrote a script to access some customer data and input into a form that the sales staff use on their computers.  The first time I ran the script it did not work, I check the logs and found that it told me I did not have access.  Obviously I figured, switch to admin under single user mode and give my new program access.  I did that and the script worked great.

Later in the day I ran my other scripts (these are actually CGI/PERL running through IIS) that I have been using for 3 years and they would read data, but not write data.  I thought about it for a few minutes and decided to remove FLEXquarters permisions and then run the scripts again to give it a new set of permisions.  I did that and it worked again.  But now the sales staff script that only needs to read access does not work again.

I have narrowed it down to what seems to be as simple as I need QODBC to be able to report its name as something different than "FLEXquarters QODBC"

Any ideas?

FYI All scirpts are in PERL using Win32::ODBC.

The FREE QODBC Enterprise Edition is intended for use as a READ only version with QuickBooks Enterprise 2006 and 2007 (USA edition only) and for reasons that become obvious, it bypasses the QODBC registration system and hard codes a read only connection to QuickBooks Enterprise Edition when run. Once a registered version of QODBC is introduced into a network, the requirement is that you must upgrade all the copies of QODBC Enterprise Edition in use to fully licensed read/write versions.
