We are trying to establish a linked server in SQL 2005 using QB version 8 release R5P.  I believe we have everyting setup correctly but we are still seeing the linked server show below.

We have spent countless hours looking over the forumns and I am hoping we are we are just over looking something simple.

The VB Demo works fine.  We have linked the table to Access and that works perfectly.

We ran the DCOM config application dcpinst.exe
We ran the Test DCOM Script in SQL and received All Success results.

We have looked through the following pages and ran through them multiple times rebooting when necessary.

Ran This: Does QODBC work with MS SQL Server 2005 Linked Tables?
Ran This: MS SQL Server 2000 Linked Server issue using the QODBC optimizer

The error we are seeing is:

OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "QODBC" returned message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed".
OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "QODBC" returned message "[QODBC] QB Open Connection Failed. Create DCOM Instance Error = 8000401a, Unknown error.. Created qbXMLRP2 OK.
".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "QODBC".

Any help would be appreciated.

Does unattended mode work?? Have you changed the security settings for the logged in ADMIN user to full rights for the QODBC folder: C:\Program Files\QODBC Driver for QuickBooks\ ?
