Does anybody know why QuickBooks uses a flat file database rather than a relational database? |

It stems from its early DOS days when there was 640k (or less) of memory, slow computers and limited files in config.sys. Today QuickBooks uses the Anywhere Sybase relational database backend for USA versions, but the table itself is still hashed and encrypted.
QODBC takes the hashed table and creates virtual tables for every part of QuickBooks for you (except payroll) using the Intuit qbXML SDK. |
