.We've just upgraded to QB Enterprise Edition v7 with a 5 user license.  Since I was having some intermittent problems with QODBC, I decided to update the version supplied with QB  (.214) to the latest (.231)....  Little did I realize this was the classic "17 step SDK issue"

I also wanted to use the Remote Connector functionality which, while supplied with QB EE,  would not show up in the QODBC setup screens.  Was this normal?

Clearly I've managed to do this wrong.  On the server, the version now shows as .214 and "evaluation" and on the first client it shows .231 and also "evaluation".    How do I clear this all up?  For now we only need the read-only version and five copies (one for each license).

Thanks,

-ed

You need to install .231 on the server. The full version of QODBC will run as a QODBC Server Edition Read / Write evaluation for the first 30 days. When this evaluation period expires, QODBC will automatically identify QuickBooks Enterprise and continue to run in Read only mode if no CD Key is activated.

Tom,

I tried this and it really gets ugly <sigh> -- I reinstalled the .231 on the server and this time it took cleanly.  Except it disables everything.  While I can see all the configuration information, such as using the remote server, everything gives me ugly error messages (even from VBDemo) that this is licensed only with QODBC with the Enterprise Edition.  And all connections fail.  So I had to go back and re-install the QODBC .214 that comes with Enterprise Edition and now it all works, but I don't have access to the Remote Connector tab or the other .214 to .231 enhancements.

How does one get the full functionality (for now the Read-only) of the QODBC client when running on Enterprise Edition? Or is the version bundled with Enterprise Edition a subset of the Read-only?

I really want to get this nailed so that things stabilize and then I'll likely upgrade 1 or 2 to Read/Write ... I don't think I'll get any benefits for "turning in" my old V4 R/W will I? <grin>

Thanks,

The Remote Connector is only licensed for use with the FULL version of QODBC. In other words you will need to purchase a CD Key.
