When I start the VB Demo program to test my connection, and run the default query

SELECT * FROM Customer

It returns no data at all.

If I alter the query to a different table, eg

SELECT * FROM Bill         SELECT * FROM Employee        SELECT * FROM Invoice

Then it returns appropriate data, and seems to work correctly

Can you please tell me why the customer query does not work?

Sounds like your company file is corrupted. Try opening one of the QuickBooks sample files instead or a backup of your company file.

Hi Tom

Thanks for your help.  I can open the sample data file fine and view the customer data, so it appears that you are correct, there may be something wrong with my QB company file.

I have tried a backup of the file, but this has the same problem.  I have also tried a verify and a rebuild of the company file, but this has not resolved the problem either.

How can I get the file repaired?  Can you offer any suggestions?

THanks

The company file, in your case, can only be repaired by Quicken in New Zealand. Try going back to a earlier backup to see how far back the problem goes back.

Quicken NZ have given the brush-off (several times now), saying that they can't do anything because as far as they are concerned the company file is ok and they don't support QODBC (even though they admit that they use it themselves).

I have proved that it is definately the company file, because I can view the customer table in other company files ok.

Is there any other organisation that might be able to help me fix my QB company file?  Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Did they actually rebuild your company file or did they just open it in QuickBooks and say they can see Customers, so there's nothing wrong with the file? The companyfile.qbw file still has a corrupted pointer that needs to be corrected.
