I am using Vista and testing QODBC functions through VB Demo 32. When I try to make a connection, after being prompted for the computers adminstrator password (I do this) a couple times I am getting a message box saying in red text, Open License Failed.
I click the Quit button and then I then am prompted again for the computers administrator password, that I enter and then get a VB Demo 32 message box stating the evaluation license has expired and to contact my dealer for the latest version.
I paid for my license, received and installed the key.
Other aspects seem to work, such as setting up an ODBC, which functions with MS Access 2007 through and to a QB Pro 2007 company file.
Can you assist with the VB demo aspect? Thank you.

I downloaded and installed QODBC and am also trying to get it to run on Vista. I followed all the instructions in the referenced posting, but I get the Open LIcense Failed message, although I only installed it today. I want to be sure that I can get the application to work before paying for the license. Please advise. |

Sorry, you haven't provided any details on how you setup QODBC on Microsoft Windows Vista or what version of QODBC you are using (see the "About" tab in the QODBC Setup screen). I have reinstalled QODBC v7.10.00.231 and its running on my Vista notebook without any issues. You must use a standard Vista user account to install QODBC and enter the system administrator's password when prompted. |

I only had one user account on the machine at the time I installed QODBC. That was an administrator account. I have since added another (standard) user account, and this was the account I was using at the time I was trying to use QODBC. As I stated before, I followed all the instructions in the post concerning Vista, including upgrading the Quickbooks 2007 to release 8 and QODBC to release 7. |

Uninstalled QODBC from the administrator account. Reinstalled it as the user account. Opened Quickbooks as a user (not Admin) tried to run VB script and establish connection. Got a screen asking for an administrator password. I cancelled this screen and then got the message that the license is expired. |

Hi, I did the upgrade Tom suggested after I saw Suzanne's post, but haven't had time to uninstall and reinstall.
However, when I originally found this issue some while ago, even though I got the license expired issue, I was able to connect Quickbooks to my Access database and can successfully run queries and their reports just fine. Which is what I really needed anyway.
I am using QB Pro 2007, QODBC Driver 7.10.00.231 and Access 2007.
When things slow down a bit I will uninstall, reinstall as per Tom's advice and try my VB Demo again to see what occurs. |
