Hi,

I am running QODBC WebServer Edition v5 with QuickBooks Enterprise 2005. I am considering upgrading to v6/2006 for the speed benefit. Is it really 10 times faster?

Are there many changes to the database tables and/or columns between versions? I'm hoping I won't have to make any changes to my applications. I mainly use the CreditMemo,Customer,Invoice,ItemInventory,PurchaseOrder tables.

Thanks.

Yes, the optimizer can speed up things up to even better than 10 times in certain situations, but in a treaded environment, the QODBC Server Edition often needs the optimizer turned off when used for example with MS SQL Server Linked Tables. However, along with the optimizer we continue to add additional features to v6 as can be seen within the: QODBC Updates and Bug Fixes section.

If you upgrade to QuickBooks 2006 you wll need to move to QODBC v6 regardless.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. So just to clarify about the data structure....

QuickBooks doesn't change the database/table structure much between versions correct? So when my App written for QB2005/QODBCv5 goes to insert an InvoiceLine for instance in v6/2006, I can insert the same data into the same columns to create an invoice right?

Thanks again.

Yes, anything with InvoiceLine is still the same. The tables themselves don't change, but we have added new ones.
