QODBC with a Japanese installation |

I am working via a Citrix link to our partners in Tokyo. We have installed QuickBooks Professional Services Edition 7.0 and the QODBC 7.0 driver on a desktop machine there. They have been using the application successfully for a few months now and it accepts Japanese characters just fine. (One or two Kanji characters are apparently not working).
I am writing an interface for an in-house application in VB 6 (MS SQL back-end). This application handles translations to and from Japanese and has been working well in that regard for a few years. I need this application to get customer info from QuickBooks and I have written code to extract basic name and address info from the Customer table.
Information that is in English carries over fine, but the Japanese is garbled. It appears to be a simple encoding issue. Is there some setting I am missing? |

Sorry, QODBC only supports English type characters. Unicode is currently not supported. To support this Intuit would also need to enhance their qbXML SDK for Unicode support. |

That is bad news. Are they considering this fix any time soon? It looks like I am going to have to abandon the QODBC all together and go with a messy work around using the Excel export which DOES export Japanese characters. |
