This is a known problem with the Canadian 2006 edition of QuickBooks.

The workaround for this is fairly simple -- if you go to your QuickBooks program files directory and COPY qbw32.exe to qbw32<flavor>.exe where <flavor> is the flavor of QuickBooks you have installed:

Pro
Premier
PremierAccountant
PremierContractor
etc.

Then your QODBC connection issue should go away...

For example, if you have QB Premier, contractor edition installed, then you would copy QBW32.exe to QBW32PremierContractor.exe in the QuickBooks program files directory.

If the Update QuickBooks option is configured for Automatic Update, then you should already have the following small files placed in the directory where QuickBooks 2006 (Canadian edition) was installed:

qbw32premieraccountant.exe
qbw32premiercontractor.exe
qbw32premiergeneric.exe
qbw32premiernonprofit.exe
qbw32premierprofessional.exe
qbw32premierretail.exe
qbw32premierwholesale.exe
qbw32pro.exe
qbw32simplestart.exe

If those files have not been automatically installed, the QuickBooks 2006 user can cause them to be downloaded and installed by doing the following:

Open QuickBooks 2006 (Canadian edition)

Choose the menu
File > Update Quickbooks…

In the "Update Quickbooks" window, click "Update now" then click on "Get Updates" button.

I encountered the same error in Quickbooks premier 2006/7 for NZ and the above workaround did not fix the problem.

A call with customer service identified file QBXMLRP2.DLL of the SDK as being probable source of the problem.

This file may have stuck behind on my system as a result of trying SDK5 from the US web site. (The uninstall did not remove it.)

The problem was resolved by uninstalling QODBC, then deleting QBXMLRP2.DLL and then reinstalling QODBC.

All countries outside USA currently use SDK v3.0, so it's important that you don't install the USA v5 SDK on your computer if you are not a USA user. The SDK for Canada and Australia is also available separately from Intuit Canada and Quicken here in Sydney, Australia.

SDK V5 for USA, Canada & Uk is free, but it seems I have to pay Quicken to get the SDK that goes with my NZ version (ironic considering that it has less functionality). Do you know if I can get the SDK for Quickbooks Premier 2006/07 for NZ for free somewhere?

Also do you know what I need to do to do a complete removal of SDK V5.0 for anything that may foul up SDK 3.0?

It appears that QODBC is still not operating properly even after deleting QBXMLRP2.DLL and reinstalling QODBC.

Thanks,

Vincent

Sorry this forum is for QODBC and not SDK support. Quicken charge us for the Australian/New Zealand/Asia Pacific SDK and for support. We don't get it for FREE either.  If you really need to get this working on your computer, please delete your:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

folder and re-install your New Zealand Quickbooks Premier 2006/07 edition as a new install and install QODBC again afterwards. Integrated Applications are only designed by Intuit to work with one (SDK) copy of QuickBooks.
