Apply an a/r balance to a credit card |

In my client's Goodyear store, customers may pay off their Goodyear credit card balance by an in-store cash payment.
In Quickbooks, this is recorded by receiving the payment; selecting to refund the balance; and then selecting the credit card as the payment method.
Programmatically, I am able to receive a payment without applying it to a specific invoice; however, the second step is tripping me up--how do I then apply this payment to a credit card?

Normally Credit Card payments are used to pay the invoice just like cash, but in your case these in-store payments are to pay off another debt. The best way to handle this would be by having a Client Account for the Credit card and then a Job Account for their repair jobs, wheel alighments, batteries and tyres. This way the job accounts can be paid normally within QuickBooks and the outstanding amount then applied to the Credit Card main account, leaving that account to apply the in-store CASH payments.
But as I've seen, there's many ways to skin a cat, so I would need to know the exact details of the method you are using in order minic it with QODBC. |
