I have downloaded the version 7 QODBC driver, and activated it with my OEM key we purchased.  When I try to insert or update a field in the database I get the error:

This function requires activation of the DESKTOP feature.

I then deactivated, totally uninstalled QODBC, then re-installed the latest version 8.00.00.234.  I then re-activated the product using the options on the 'About' Menu, now it reads I have a QODBC Read Write version for OEM 2007, Serial number D070U100...., and the correct name for the license appears.

When I go into the VBDemo and perform an 'update SQl query' - I still get this activation error.

This has been on-going on my Vista Computers, and I would like to figure out how to "Totally uninstall manually" the QODBC product, remove any registry entries, especially those dealing with activation, then re-install once again on my computer, and further re-activate with my license key.

Can you help me please!

Vic

It sounds like you are using QuickBooks Enterprise 2008? What version of QuickBooks are you using?

I am using QB Enterprise Version 7.0 - to answer your question - I have tried to do an "update" with the VBDemo and get the same error - I have reloaded a similiar computer in the same way as mine and the driver works fine - I have in fact loaded this driver on dozens of computers for both my clients and mine - and have never got this error - obviously this is getting frusterating when I dont get the answer to my questions, but rather, you simply give me one statement replies.

The problem is simple - the driver thinks it is activated because the control panel says it is activated - but it will not work.  I have tried uninstalling - rebooting - reinstalling - re-activating - talking to Mark - running a license uninstall - re-installing - re-uninstalling - reinstalling - and nothing is working.

To say my computer "is screwed up" is the simple answer - yet I had just reformatted this computer and was simply trying to get this to work again.

Thanks

Actually, the driver is working, it's just that writes aren't working! The reason for this is simple, if you connect to a Enterprise company file using the QODBC Enterprise Edition, or the full product with a expired evaluation (in USA Enterprise Edition mode), the company file is "hard coded" as read only under strict directions from Intuit.

To fix this you will need to remove all the "FLEXquarters QODBC" integrated applications and re-connect using your OEM version of QODBC all over again.
