 Problems getting QODBC to drop connection to QBE

Just purchased the R/W version of QODBC and am running QBE 9.  As far as I can tell everything is at the latest release.  I am also using Access 07 to access QBE data.  I have the QBE data on a server on the network, with 5 users total.  QODBC is only installed on one machine and everything seems to run okay.  But when I close down Access then try and log out of QBE, I get an error saying that the program requesting access must stop first before QBE can log me out. I presume that that program is Access 07, but I can confirm that it is not running and the only way to get out of QBE is to kill the process.  ANy help would be apppreciated.
