I had QB US 2007 Accountant Premier, 2006 Pro, 2005 Pro and QB Canadian 2007 Pro installed. QODBC worked fine with QB US, but it keeps failing for QB Canadian. I'm getting the error message that "QODBC requires API version 1.1 or 2.0 to communicate with Quickbooks (#10054)." The SDK message file says: 20071010.154103 E 388 ParseManager Unable to FindResource .

After looking at the Faq's, I thought that the problem was that qb2007 US was also installed. I've uninstalled QB US 2007 and uninstalled and reinstalled qb2007 Canadian..  The ODBC call still keeps failing.. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

Based on what I've seen on other computers, I'm guessing that parts of the USA version of QuickBooks are still in the Common Files folder that were most likely overlooked when you reinstalled the Canadian editon of QuickBooks. Parts of the USA version of QuickBooks are still in the C:\Program Files\Intuit folder and will not be overwritten when you install the Canadian version of QuickBooks because their DLLs will be older than the USA DLLs..

If you really need to get this working on your computer, please delete your:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

folder and re-install your Canadian 2007 edition of QuickBooks as a new install and install QODBC again afterwards. Unfortunately this will most likely break all the older versions of QuickBooks on your computer, so the choice is yours to make here. Integrated Applications are only designed by Intuit to work with one copy of QuickBooks.

From there do the: How do I connect to QuickBooks for the first time? procedure (that you know by heart now).

This sounds very like my problem: I had QB 2004 UK and 2006 UK installed, QODBC v8 only used with QB 2006. All worked fine. So now I install QB2007 UK, thinking (silly me) that things would continue to work, but it says I need API version 1.1 or 2.0 (whatever the heck that means). Look up your ever-helpful support site and I see that the Canadian versions evidently display the same problem. I have to keep QB2006 because I use multicurrency (a lot) on some companies, which QB2007 can't do, but QB2007 has some good stuff I'd like for other company files.

I'd like to solve this by putting QB2007 on my laptop, but that means another QODBC licence, because I'm sure I bought one for the laptop, but I can't find the licence info.

Between a rock and a hard place!

I think you actually mean the new UK edition of QuickBooks 2008 here which uses the USA version of the SDK 6.0 and means no more multi-currency support. The same thing now applies to both Canadian and UK versions of QuickBooks 2008, see: Two Versions of Canadian QuickBooks 2008

Yes, I meant 2008. Late at night . . grappling with problems . . brain overheating. I did find the link you suggest after I replied, at least I know what was going on, always a comfort.

I've uninstalled everything QB, re-installed QB2006, it's just downloading its updates. Then I'll reinstall QODBC.

Thank you for your help.
