IMPORTANT: Installation of OEM QODBC Checklist1. Ensure oem.ini file is correct.
2. Ensure oem.ini and QODBC v5 qodbc.exe file are in the same directory
3. Install QODBC.
4. Start QODBC OEM version and go to register button.
5. Note Request Code and Software ID.
6. Advise Developer the Request Code and Software ID details over the phone.
7. Go to
http://qodbc.com/docs/mgi/qoem.html and obtain new licence for PC. Use Developer ID and Developer password. Use Request Code and Software ID from register window for OEM version from the client computer only.
8. Enter numbers from registration screen into OEM Registration window.
9. The QODBC OEM version driver operates the same as the full version driver, but limits full access to your application, which must login to gain access. All ODBC compliant languages are able to support a "connect string" to connect with a database server through ODBC, and we use this method to identify the developers application and grant full driver access. In Visual Basic, for example, the "Connect" string is normally not required unless login is required, but on the OEM edition it MUST be setup similar to the following:
ODBC;DSN=QODBC DEVELOPERNAME;DeveloperCode=W05Uxxxxxxxxxxx;
This breaks down as follows:-
DSN is the dataset name your driver is using to connect.
DeveloperCode is the full QODBC serial number you were assigned for your copy of QODBC.
Once the passwords are checked, the QODBC OEM version will work as a full driver to QuickBooks data, with the only difference being that the sign-on
screen has been eliminated.
This simple checklist covers the installation of the QODBC OEM version on a client's machine without the application technical connection details. Developers should not provide their Developer password to their clients directly. Developers should obtain the OEM registration codes for their clients using the Request Code and Software ID provided by their clients over the phone
