VBA(Access) on PC1, QB on PC2, QB files on server--will this work? |

I'm looking into QODBC. Not wishing to invest too much time if the main set up will not work for me. I want to ahead of time know if QODBC can handle the following connection(s).
There are 3 locations that need to be connected.
PC 1: location of Access 2003 database, from which VBA app will be developed. PC 1 does not run Quickbooks.
PC 2: location where Quickbooks runs. MS Office 2003 (with Access) also runs here.
Local Server: location of files accessed by QB running on PC 2. Server simply stores the QB files. No server version of QB is running here.
So will the remote functionality built into the QODBC driver allow me to open (read/write) the QB files on the server from PC 1? If so, does the driver need to be installed on both PC's, on PC 1 and the server, in all 3 locations, or what?
Thanks.

QODBC connects to Quickbooks which connects to the actual company file, so the iBiz Remote Connector needs to find QuickBooks on the local server (which isn't installed yet). The other way is just to connect PC1 to PC2 and continue to have QuickBooks connect to the company file on the local server. So you will need two or three copies of QODBC and it might just be easier to install QuickBooks on PC1. |
