Appending, updating and retrieving data to/from the QuickBooks CUSTOMER table using standard Access queries works just fine, as long as I observe the restrictions defined by the REQUIRED_ON_INSERT, INSERTABLE, and UPDATEABLE rules for the respective fields.

However, when attempting to append the invoice header information to the QuickBooks INVOICE table, I receive the errors:  "ODBC-insert on a linked table 'Invoice' failed." & "[QODBC] Not supported (#10003)". Both of the QB fields marked as REQUIRED_ON_INSERT (CustomerRefListID & CustomerRefFullName) were included along with some address fields, and the insert was also attempted with ONLY those two required fields.

I also imitated the QODBC Access Demo and tried to insert these two fields using a simple data entry form based on the linked INVOICE table, receiving the same error messages.

Entering the values for these fields DIRECTLY into a grid view of the INVOICE table produced the same error!

Suggestions, anyone?

Invoices are created using the InvoiceLine table, not the Invoice table. The Invoice table may only be inserted when InvoiceLine transactions are cached. See: How do I create a new Customer, invoice them and mark the invoice as paid?  and How can I create multiple lines in the Invoice, Purchase, Journal and other tables?
