After using QODBC, I get the message: The company file cannot be closed at this time because there is another application (FLEXquarters QODBC) which is using it. What should I do? I already exited Excel and all other applications. |

Occasionally, an application does not completely close it's connection to our QODBC Driver. Typically an error or a crash most often causes this. When this happens, our driver is not unloaded from memory by the host application, and QuickBooks still thinks we are still talking to it, so it shows this message.
When this happens, you must use the Windows Task Manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC) to close QuickBooks. You will cause no file corruption by doing this. We have asked Intuit to add an override to this message to close anyway, but they have not yet provided it. |

Tom, Has there been any update to the 'cannot close company file' issue. I have a 2004 installation that I just installed the 7.0.0.207 read only driver on a server to do overnight pulls, but the the users ( multi-user quickbooks) get this error when they attempt to close QB. Again, the error occurs after all other apps have been closed. |

Closing applications, that use QODBC, that work through Windows Services doesn't close the connection. Often services will hold the connection open and it can take the Windows O/S ten minutes or so to close the connection. If your application submits invalid operations to QODBC, the driver can crash and leave the connection open in memory and you will need to close QuickBooks using the Windows Task Manager.
You may need to also reboot to get everything working correctly again. |
