I use a seperate invoicing software and use QODBC v9 to communicate with QB's 9.0.  We have used these softwares and driver for many years and it works great.  Yesterday, I downloaded the QODBC v9 driver to communicate with the new QB's Ent. Solutions 9.0 software.  When I open my invoicing software and import from QB's, it works fine.  When I try to send an invoice back into QB's, it takes 30 minutes +.  I believe this is due to the fact that it is querying all invoices in QB's looking to make sure it is not duplicating inv. numbers.  We have had this problem in the past and have corrected in in the invoicing software over a year ago and has worked flawlessly.  I don't remember if I had this same problem last year when I updated QB's & QODBC, but it seems as if there was a fairly quick/easy fix in a setting in QODBC.  I've looked through the set-up screen of QODBC but can not find any such settings.  Please let me know how to permanantly turn off the query.  I've found it down in the lower right corner icon when the invoice is trying to send, i.e. clicking the icon and clicking stop query.  However, I want the invoice to send without a query starting.

When you updated to QODBC v9 all the installation defaults got reinstated. Change your optimization settings to use the The start of every new connection (with "Load Updated Data" first) option and confirm that the Multi-Table Sync option has been disabled. If not, uncheck the Multi-Table Sync option as this is often defaulted on (checked) with QuickBooks Enterprise.

I've changed my optimization settings to match the ones you've suggested.  This has not made a differece.  With the previous version of QB's Ent. Solutions and QODBC driver, I was able to send an invoice back to QB's from my invoicing software, in about only 3-5 seconds.  It is currently taking me about 3 minutes, and that is only if I quick click on the QODBC icon in the lower right and click on stop query.  If I don't stop the query it runs for at least 20-30 minutes +.

I guess in your case: Optimize data after an Insert or Update should be left unchecked. Also as some point you are going to have to let the QODBC Optimizer re-sync that table. By the sounds of things you keep on stopping the re-sync process, so it has to try to do it again over and over. Once re-synced there's actually very little overhead.

In case you're using MS Access, see this: SLOW performance using MS Access and QuickBooks 2008 Enterprise Edition also.
