ODBC Certificate in QB Integrated application

I am experiencing an interesting problem with the QODBC certificate that goes into the integrated applications section of QB.

I have an accounting server that several people can remotly log onto with their unique user name and password.  Each user has the QODBC driver setup on their profile so that when they are logged in, they can run an MS Access database which pulls from tables within our QB file.

In the recent past, it didn't matter who was logged in and running the database, it always pulled data through the QODBC driver without QB being open

Now, we are having problems in that every user has to re-establish the certificate by logging on as admin and waiting for the integrated application prompt for that certificate.  Once the certificate is established for that user it works fine for that user.  If they log off, and another person logs on, the new user will have to establish a certificate again for themselves, which makes it so that the other users certificate is broken.

The only difference between the time when it was working and now is that one user has the read write version of QODBC and another user has the read only version of QODBC:  They are both version QODBC 7.00.00.214.

Does any one know of solution to this?

Basically all connections to the one company file must all be done by using the same edition of QODBC. In your case, everyone should be running the Read / Write version of QODBC.

Please remove all FLEXquarters QODBC applications from the Company Preference and reconnect using the QODBC Read/Write Desktop edition.

Tom,

Is this also true for version and for Vista versus XP/2003???

Right now we have 5 users using the QODBC driver that is included with QB Enterprise v7.  I can get the Vista person to work just fine and get the certificate to be "accepted" by QBES.  But when I do so, suddenly none of the XP users can function -- apparently the certificate is invalid for them now.

As soon as I "re-accept" the certificate on any of the XP/2003 machines they can all function again.  But the moment I do that, the certificate for the Vista box fails.  I've been VERY careful to select all the same options and nothing helps.

Is the only solution to upgrade the Vista box to a "real" license (versus the included in QBES) so that I can run the remote functionality back to an XP/2003 box?

And if only 2 of the 5 users need R/W -- am I going to have problems if I have 2 QBES read-only editions, 2 R/W editions, and 1 non-QBES included read-only editions (Vista)?  Or am I going to have to purchase 5 licenses for the R/W edition?

Thanks,

-ed

I have asked the QODBC Software Engineer to provide a means or a method to be able to force a number to be added to the FLEXquarters QODBC Integrated Applications Certificate so we can truely support multi-users like this:

FLEXquarters QODBC1                User1
FLEXquarters QODBC2                User2
FLEXquarters QODBC3                User3

Using this we will be able to support multiple versions of QODBC on a network.

Tom,

Thanks -- I saw that in another thread.  But in the meantime, that means my scenario of 5 users is a no-go for now?  I guess in the interim I'm going to have to downgrade the Vista user back to XP as just getting read-only via QBES is the most critical.  I'm going to hold any of the upgrades until the new version hopefully comes out.

Thanks,

-ed
