I am using Quickbooks Enterprise version 9 and I have several users using the QODBC drivers version 9.00.00.253 (some read only, some read/write but all that version).  We use the QODBC driver to connect an Access database to the QuickBooks data (Access 2003 Professional running on an XP SP3 OS).  The Access Database resides on a network server that does not have the Access application installed.  Therefore, when a user opens this database, the Access application is running on their machine and using the QODBC link that resides on that machine.

The problem that I experience is that whenever a user with the Read/Write version of the driver uses this Access database (usually for development), they must be logged in to QuickBooks as Admin and must answer the "Application Certificate" prompts as if it were the first time they used the QODBC driver.  This seems to destroy the link that the Read Only user had, preventing them from connecting to the QuickBooks data until they are logged on as Admin and answer the "Application Certificate" prompts again.  Once a user answers the application prompts the driver will perform as expected until somebody else has to open that database.   This continues to go back and forth.

Is it not possible for different users to access the same data using odbc connections with the same name without breaking the connection for another user?   I would be really grateful if you could point me toward a solution for this as it is becoming a significant bottleneck to our productivity.

Thanks,

Jay

Thanks Tom.  I've read the posts in the link you provided.  The application in question for me is MS Access, so renaming the exe file on the user's machines doesn't sound practical(unless I've missed something).

In light of that I gather that you are telling me that I am not alone, but I AM out of luck until FlexQuarters programming decides to work on this.  I understand how programming departments can be, and it doesn't sound like yours is motivated to provide the functionality that we users need (i.e. passing the parameter of PC1, PC2, etc).  It would make me happy if you could tell me I am wrong.  Can you?

You need to contact your local sales office directly to request changes to QODBC. The reference is: QSupport Ticket ID: BR00000076 Dated: 27 Nov 2007.
